What is the WFFGN?

The WFFGN is an organisation coordinating between the 40+ growing projects in Waltham Forest, working to align on shared goals, connect growers and gardens, and collectively work towards achieving food sovereignty in our borough.

We believe that community-led food growing will be central to a new economy that works better for people, wildlife and the land we share. Our work creates corridors between projects, facilitating collaboration, resource sharing, and helping to bring more people into the food growing movement.

Our Aims

  • Operate as a democratically-led organisation that is responsive and supportive of membership needs, via transparent governance and regular consultation

  • Gain the Right to Grow food on unused public land by the end of 2026

  • Build skills, knowledge, and access to resources in our community via education and training in regenerative farming and agroecological practices, rooted in systems change and justice

  • Organise spaces and events for community connection, helping to reduce isolation, offer support and friendship, and share local knowledge among our members and supporters

  • Promote inclusion, welcome, and equity across the food growing movement in Waltham Forest

  • Support the non-human residents of the borough through provision of habitat, water, planting, and intentional practice that allows wildlife and nature to thrive
